My Pinterest Board: https://www.pinterest.com/lightningred123/nontraditional-art/ Why did you choose the material you decided to work with? What was unexpected or challenging about it? I came up with the idea of a recycled material wind chime from Pinterest which had a similar (but not identical) idea, using recycled material as a mobile or wind chime. For the most part, the items I used were semi-convenient to me, and are not a typical arting material. Working with wire was not a mold-able as I had planned, which posed some issues working with the hanger. Plus the string can get tangled with each other in the wind, which I tried to fix using colorful wire. What did you think about the experience of working with a material that was unfamiliar? Working with unusual materials was definitely not what arting is to me on a daily basis. There were different challenges than normally. For example: instead or having problems blending paints, I had problems wire-working as stated above. Overall I did enjoy working with a unique material, because I felt I made something no one else had anything like. Working with nontraditional materials was challenging in different ways, but was very artcational (educating in the ways of art). Did you enjoy working with unconventional materials? Why or why not? As said previously, there were different challenges to face with nontraditional materials than normal arting utensils, but facing a challenge is not always a bad thing. Generally speaking, ignoring the tedious moments of this project(there can be many in ANY kind of project), I enjoyed working with these various objects because it showed me how to art with a different mindset and think more creatively on how to deal with a problem and idea. I enjoyed arting this kind of project and would like to try to do this again more often ( I have a few more ideas up my sleeve). |
