A certain piece jumped out to me at the museum when we went; it was called “Winter 1946” by Andrew Newell Wyeth. This is a semi-modern American painting made in the World War Two era. I chose this piece because I thought it would be able to portray my identity because it a) shows an actual person and b) because he is participating in an activity that could represent my identity: running. This may also be a good piece of art to use because it is unique; no one else will probably use this to demonstrate their theme (identity, place, or storytelling). With a similar color pallet (hopefully) and similar detailing and style, I will try to achieve a piece that is obviously be inspired (but not a copy of) by Wyeth’s “Winter 1946”. A last reason I am choosing this painting in particular is because I like Wyeth as a painter in general, so if “Winter 1946” does not work out for me, he may have other pieces at the NCMA that I could be inspired by.
